Nal’iBali Story Bosso
Nal’ibali (isiXhosa for “here’s the story”) is a national reading-for-enjoyment campaign to spark children’s potential through storytelling and reading.
Aimed at reawakening a love of stories and reading among all South Africans, Story Bosso is Nal’ibali’s annual multilingual storytelling talent search, where all South Africans – young and old – are invited to tell a story about their hero. Not only to educate their children, but to pass on some of the values they stood for too. Younger storytellers are invited to share a story of their own hero, or a fictional hero.
It was our pleasure and privilege to assist the Nal’iBali team to plan and coordinate the Story Bosso events for the second year in a row. This year the events were held in Gauteng (Soweto), Kwa-Zulu Natal (Newcastle), Eastern Cape (Stutterheim) and Limpopo (Polokwane).
Local school children, community leaders and storytellers are invited to join in an inspirational fun morning of storytelling, singing and dancing. There are no rules as long as you feel inspired to tell a original story and perhaps win a prize!
Well known and inspirational story tellers such as Marc Lottering and Yvonne Chaka Chaka support and attend the Story Bosso events each year to entertain young and old with stories, rhymes and songs!
Nal’iBali has crept very deep into our hearts. Through them we have been to many places we have never seen before and met the most kind and generous individuals who will go very far for this worthy cause.
