3 Reasons Why You Need A Wedding Coordinator

Wedding coordinators are pretty much gifts from the gods. Knights in shining armour, usually working behind the scenes, bursting at the seams to make sure that your nuptials turn out even more successful than you have dreamt. So, you just got engaged.

Cost Effective

Don’t worry about rumours that event coordinators are a waste of money or too expensive. Professional event coordinators can benefit you in so many ways, one of which is delivering the wedding you have in mind without the stress-factor. Especially if you are planning a destination wedding and are based in a different country. They are trained and experienced in handling all levels of event management, from invitations to venue selection, menu details to flowers and decor, music and entertainment to lighting requirements and photography. They are able to match your style, personality and budget to the most suitable and trustworthy service providers, without you having to work through 100’s of options, never knowing if you have ticked all the “wedding planning” boxes.

Coordinators Know What Works And What Does Not

Even if you have researched wedding planning tips, you won’t be able to multi-task and be everywhere on your wedding day. You do need someone who knows what works and what does not. Your wedding day defines who you are, so you do not want to make costly mistakes or have to deal with an unforeseen behind-the-scenes crisis while you would rather be celebrating and be present with your guests. Reputable and established coordinators know the pitfalls to avoid and rocks to climb to make your wedding unforgettable.

You Want To Get Married, Not Organize

Chances are, because you want to have the wedding of your dreams, you started searching for ideas and other beautiful weddings that took place at your favourite venue. And that’s where it should end. It is ideal to enjoy a stress-free wedding day and let your event coordinator liaise with the all the service providers, taking your ideas, turning it into reality while ensuring everything runs smoothly –  just as you envisioned.

If you don’t want to stress AND deliver a grand event on the day, a wedding coordinator is a priceless assistant you should bring on board.

A Cape Town Wedding

A Cape Town Wedding

What is more perfect than a Cape Town wedding with a beautiful African sunset? Every now and then you experience a wedding you wish you can have over and over again because everything just fell into place perfectly. Some things can not be “coordinated”. A  sunset, mist rolling over the ocean at just the right moment (look at these stunning portraits at Bakoven!), the light of the setting sun on the mountain while family and friends from all over the world celebrate a special union with good food and music… all these elements played a roll in giving Candice and Gary their dream wedding.

Candice is American and Senior Design Operations Manager at Ralph Lauren in New York – she is beautiful, stylish, unpretentious, has an impeccable eye for detail and knew exactly what she wanted for their wedding day. Gary is South African and resides with his new bride (and soon new born baby!) in NYC. He was determined that their wedding should be celebrated at his childhood home and where his parents still live – Geneva Slopes in Camps Bay. So, he brought his bride to Africa.

And what a good idea it was. Non-traditional weddings make us happy and that is what they wanted – an intimate gathering stripped of the expected. We loved every moment. Chic, with just a touch of Africa.

Enjoy these images by Catherine Mac (Gary is also a professional photographer and Catherine was carefully hand-picked after much deliberation).

The couple also treated their guests to a personalised wine tour in the week prior to the wedding to show off true South African hospitality and top class wines. The Event Planners planned the day to the “t” and hand-picked Babylonstoren, Vrede en Lust and Tokara as the wine estates of choice.

Candice and Gary, you are our perfect clients, thank you for trusting us with your wedding day.

“Thank you all so much for making our wedding night so seamless and perfect. We couldn’t have done it without you!!!!
The night honestly could not have been more perfect. It was an absolute pleasure working with you all.
Best,
Candice and Gary”

Getting Married in Hout Bay – South Africa

Getting Married in Hout Bay – South Africa

Are you considering getting married in Hout Bay?  Hout Bay is situated in a valley on the Atlantic Seaboard, a mere twenty kilometres from Cape Town CBD, in a protected bay between Chapman’s Peak and Mount Sentinel.  It doesn’t matter which road you choose to reach the lively town, you will be greeted with some of the Cape’s most spectacular beauty and the bay’s passionate residents!

Driving in over Constantia Neck the route takes you on the picturesque, lush, almost forest-like Main Road curving into the valley. Coming over from Cape Town on Llundudno’s side is a postcard pretty drive, accompanied by the Atlantic Ocean on your right (don’t forget to stop for a cocktail at the Twelve Apostles).  And the pièce de résistance, Chapman’s Peak Drive with its world famous majestic scenery, will lead you in from Noordhoek.

Hout Bay also has no scarcity of wedding venues.  Tintswalo Atlantic, newly rebuilt after the Cape fire earlier this year, is the 5 star luxury lodge nestled on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean between Hout Bay and Noordhoek on Chapman’s Peak Drive.  The lodge is uniquely designed and offers a complete private and intimate wedding experience.

Hout Bay Manor (image) is a sparkling, hidden gem of luxury and indulgence right in the middle of the town. Created in the traditional Cape Colonial Style, the manor has been completely restored, recapturing the tranquillity and allure of a bygone era.  You will be completely charmed!

Riverside Estates sits in the middle of the valley across the road from the famous World of Birds and boasts with a restored Cape Dutch manor house and a lush garden ideal for summer wedding ceremonies.  The property is working towards eco-sustainability and upliftment of the whole of Hout Bay community.

Suikerbossie Restaurant on Llundudno’s side needs no introduction with most Capetonians and has magnificent views overlooking the valley, Chapman’s Peak and the bay below.

Maison Noir is a tranquil Eastern and African inspired villa high up in the mountain, ideal for accommodation and relaxing pre and post wedding.

Whatever you do, don’t miss out on a stroll on Hout Bay’s beach, a visit to the culturally rich fishing harbour and the world’s best fish ’n chips restaurant, Fish on the Rocks!  Cheyne’s restaurant in the Main Road is a ‘must-do’ – a unique culinary experience that will definitely make you come back for more.

The Event Planners is based in Hout Bay and we are waiting to hear from you.  Let us guide you through the best the valley has to offer.  Pop us an email or give us a ring and we will meet you at one of our favourite coffee spots (or wine).
