About the day

What a wedding! Alhan and Adib stole our hearts right from the start and it was just wonderful to work with a couple who trusted us to bring the look they envisioned for their wedding day to life. White white and more white abundant flowers combined with the luxury of hundreds of candles and the sparkle of crystal chandeliers worked so well for this mid winter wedding. What’s more, they were blessed with the most beautiful, sunny day with blue skies right in the middle of winter.  We are publishing this wedding in two parts because there are just so many stunning images to share and oh my… the camera loves Alhan!

From the couple

“I just wanted to thank you for all the hard work and effort you put towards our day. It was absolutely everything and more than what I imagined. Thank you times a million.”

Couple

Anicia and Nikola

Venue

Nooitgedacht Wine Estate, Stellenbosch

About the day

When an adventurous South African girl and a Serbian guy decide to get married (and you are lucky to get invited!), be assured it will be one of the most incredible celebrations you will experience. Anicia and Nikola both work as cabin crew for Emirates and met on a flight to Cape Town in 2015. It was not long before Nikola proposed in the Maldives on Anicia’s birthday in the most romantic way (a private candle lit dinner followed by a treasure hunt on the beach…). We are privileged to plan weddings for the best people and seeing how much love and pure happiness there are between couples such as Anicia and Nikola makes us smile for days. We hope you continue your journey and stay in love just the way you are!

From the couple

“For years and years to come our hearts will still smile at how perfect our wedding day was. What an absolute blessing it was to work with you, Madri and Niki. Your professionalism, kind heartedness and passion for the work you do really showed from day one till the very last minute of our wedding day. It was such a pleasure to have you on this journey with us, and not mention the amount of “bridal stress” you just lifted off our shoulders. Thank you cannot express enough the gratitude and gratefulness we have for the work you’ve done for us. Many many many thanks!“

A Wedding at Embassy Hill

A Wedding at Embassy Hill

Couple

Neda and Farshad

Venue

Embassy Hill, Constantia

About the day

Neda and Farshad contacted us two months before their wedding date searching for the perfect venue to host 150 guests.  All the guests were coming from Persia, Canada and other parts of the world!  It wasn’t long before Embassy Hill in Constantia (and us) were signed and booked – it was love at first sight.
There are many things to love about this wedding:
  • The couple – it was a tremendous joy to work alongside them to help make their wedding day dreams come true.
  • The pre-wedding ceremony prayer  – the couple and their closest family met for a short prayer in the sitting room at Embassy Hill before they walked down the aisle, together.
  • The couple walked down the aisle with their family.  The entrance of the two sets of parents, followed by their children, grandchildren and then the couple was a heartwarming and very intimate way of opening the ceremony.
  • The beautiful and mellow swing and jazz notes of Ike Moriz during pre-dinner drinks at the pool lawn.
  • The incredible floral arrangements by N Concepts and Designs that encompassed exactly what Neda wanted.
  • The surprise Zulu Dance performance just after main course (organised in secret by the groom and us).  Be sure to check out the pictures!

From the couple

“Of the hundreds of decisions we had to make regarding our wedding, choosing The Event Planners was by far the best!  We couldn’t be more happy with the professional and friendly service that Madri and her team provided.  Nothing was too much trouble, and it was clear from the outset that we were in good hands.  Their experience in the wedding industry was clearly displayed by the great suppliers, entertainers and artists (florist, photographer, videographer and wedding cake designer) they tailored to suite our preference.  We can’t thank The Event Planners enough for a flawless execution of our wedding day.”

A Summer Garden Wedding

A Summer Garden Wedding

Late last year we had the privilege to coordinate Jade and Brad’s summer garden wedding – a delightful morning ceremony followed by canapé’s around the pool and lunch on the terrace.  The venue:  hidden gem Ibis House in the Constantia Valley, which we grew to love so much! This superb Cape colonial villa is set on seven acres of lush private garden.  A network of ponds and streams run the length of the property creating a truly magical atmosphere. Jade and Brad are both South African, but recently relocated to London to pursue their careers.

The highlights of the wedding?  Jade’s incredible dress (have you seen the back?).  She has a thing for bows.  The giant floral heart suspended from the tree at the ceremony by Flowers in the Foyer.  The ceremony walk-in song!  The couple chose Everlong by the Foo Fighters, beautifully performed live by Kai Liam Connor with vocals on guitar – the most mellow and romantic version of the song you will ever hear.  The food.  Salt and Pepper Catering outdid themselves as usual and served the perfect al fresco lunch silver service style.  James’ Chargrilled Beef Fillet with Bearnaise sauce and Fillet of Norwegian Salmon with Salsa Verdi were the highlights.

Once in a while you come across a wedding which has a secret ingredient, it’s a synergy of real love, laughter, togetherness, true happiness and a focus on the things that are really important.  This was one of them.

Jade and Brad are made for each other and we are so grateful to have been part of their wedding journey!

A Modern Indian Wedding in Cape Town

A Modern Indian Wedding in Cape Town

The client brief:  An elegant, modern, white-on-white wedding for 100 guests traveling from all over the world and South Africa. A minimalist, traditional Indian ceremony and reception, combined with Western customs.  Exquisite and strictly vegetarian food and wine.  A memorable after-party.

You certainly don’t hear the words “minimalist” and  “Indian wedding” in the same sentence often.  And we were over the moon.  To combine the rich Indian wedding history and intricate ceremony traditions with modern and minimalist design was going to be a challenge.

To kick off the festivities and welcome guests traveling from afar, an intimate dinner was hosted at Longridge Wine Estate on the night prior to the wedding.  Thank you Longridge for your good service and wonderful personalised vegetarian menu.  Waterkloof Wines situated in Somerset West is no stranger to the South African food and wine connoisseur and was also the obvious choice for our clients.  The majestic building, unending views over False Bay and the food…  the food was to be strictly vegetarian and chef Gregory Czarnecki’s menu was one of the highlights of the evening.

We loved the chic details and how each element was carefully chosen to perfectly fit into the couple’s vision for their wedding day.

Thank you for your love, generosity and down-to-earth approach – we enjoyed so much working with you!

“One year later and we still talk about how effortless and magical you helped our wedding day become. Or guests still talk over how amazing our wedding day was.  You truly made our day extra special and are such a great team to work with.  We did not have to worry about a thing and everything turned out more magical than we could have imagined.  It was an absolute pleasure working with you and we would highly recommend The Event Planners. Thank you for everything!”

An Eco-friendly Wedding

An Eco-friendly Wedding

This eco-friendly wedding took place alongside the pool on the lawns of Manfred’s Legacy at the magnificent Constantia Glen Wine Estate.  The theme of the wedding was clearly organic and natural, with both the bride and groom being extremely environmentally conscious as well as strictly vegetarian.  The couple requested that there be as little wastage as possible and that they would like to take the floral arrangements and decor home to plant in the garden of their new home.

Alida, from Flowers in the Foyer, created “wild” organic trailing table centrepieces, a delicate bridal bouquet and pew detail in line with the couple’s request, using interesting foliage, succulents, herbs and beetroot bulbs.  We love the fact that many plants used still had their roots in tact and were re-planted after the wedding day!  The swimming pool was also adorned with floating “bird’s nests” candles while bowls of fresh cut herbs doubled up as confetti.  Guests were also given gifts of herbs and succulents to plant as remembrance of the celebrations.  We pulled together a wonderful team of suppliers, who we have listed below.  Enjoy these wonderful photos taken by Shantelle Visser.
